LCQ Programmes - Who Should Attend?
The Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) is a requirement for liquor licence applicants and applicants for Manager's Certificate. This qualification is suitable for persons being appointed to a liquor retail or bar management position and persons aged 18 years plus with experience working on licensed premises, who wish to progress to a manager position.
English Language
Our training programmes are at a level 4 course of study and some investigate the interpretation of legislation. Candidates are required to have a good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. If you have concerns related to this requirement please talk to our tutorial staff before enrolling.
Aims & Outcomes
The aim of our programmes are to equip persons who are working, or intend to work, in a range of hospitality settings. This includes liquor retail or bar management or supervisory position. In these instances, programmes such as LCQ are aimed at developing the skills and knowledge required to meet the responsibilities and obligations of the position as determined by the Sale of Liquor Act 1989. Upon successful completion of our programmes, and where stated in programme materials students are able to claim NZQA unit standards.
Re-sits
A re-sit fee of $65 applies for students that do not complete the assessments successfully the first time. This fee allows the student to attend the course again, attend just the second session and/or resit the assessments.
