In the exciting and growing world of hospitality, Workforce Development continues to produce winners.

Several students competed in recent culinary competitions at the Capital Food Show in Wellington.

Greg Boag scored a bronze medal at the Superb Soup class; John Minett won a certificate of participation in the same class while Marama Rameka gained a certificate of merit in the Decorated Children’s Birthday Cake class. All students were part of the Cookery (level 4) course run at Workforce Development.

Over the same weekend tutors Martin Poe-Moore and Glyn Waterfield represented the company at the Central Branch of the New Zealand Chefs Association, judging various classes. Martin and Glyn say the weekend was a great success with fantastic support from staff and students.

Over the coming weeks Workforce Development students will be trying out for places in the New Zealand Chefs Association Team Hawke’s Bay group, which will be going to the national Salon Culinaire in Auckland during August.

The Workforce Development hospitality short courses run regularly throughout the year. If you are interested in gaining knowledge and practical skills in this area, including industry experience as part of your learning, give us a call.

From cookery skills through to beer, coffee, wine and cocktail making and service, you will gain a nationally-recognised qualification that will open doors to your future.
